MUSIC
The late Louis Thomas Hardin, or better known as “Moondog”was a New York City based Avant Garde musician, composer, theoretician, poet, and a craftsman of musical instruments. Known as the “Viking of 6th Avenue” Hardin stood out in his large cloak, helmet, long unkempt beard, and spear in hand as he would roam the streets of New York City busking to the public.
Hardin may have struck most to who passed him as a homeless, eccentric busker but he was in fact a renowned poet and musician who had songs covered by Janis Joplin and was recognized by several famous composers. He was blind from the age of sixteen and sadly passed on September 8th, 1999.
